Spirits, or Souls
Dr. Dave Oester
The question is asked whether it is a ghost, a spirit, or a soul that we capture on film or digital media. The International Ghost Hunters Society does not make a distinction between a ghost, a spirit, or a soul. These are spiritual entities from beyond the grave that venture from their dimension and travel into our dimension near the new and full moons or during solar storms when charged ion particles bombard the earth.
Some ghost hunters try to put labels onto these spiritual entities, such as ghost if they are haunting, spirit if they are visiting loved ones or souls if they are psychic do-gooders out trying to do soul rescue work. The fact remains that these are just labels created by man to identify something we do not understand.
We use these terms interchangeable. According to From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, “A ghost is defined as the apparition of a deceased person, frequently similar in appearance to that person, and usually encountered in places she or he frequented, or in association with the person's former belongings. The word "ghost" may also refer to the spirit or soul of a deceased person, or to any spirit or demon.”
While Wikipedia defines a ghost as also a demon is purely a concept expressed in the mainstream Christian cultural, which consist of over 30,000 Christian sects. In our eighteen years as ghost researchers, we have found no evidence to suggest demons exist, must less interface with man. What we have found is that some ghosts/spirits/souls were angry before death and are still angry beyond the grave. The living misunderstands this anger and therefore is quick to label this behavior pattern as demonic instead of ghosts/spirits/souls with issues.
It seems that some people need pigeon holes to fill and like doctors who need names to identify illness before they can treat it, people need labels to fill their own pigeon holes with and by using ghost, spirits, and souls as labels for this purpose.
So before you get caught up in nomenclature, remember that these spiritual entities exist beyond the grave, and is evidence of life after death. Whatever names you assign them is culturally shaded and simply a convenience to identify these spiritual beings.
