Chingle Hall is allegedly the most haunted house in England!
The photograph on the left was taken on our arrival at Chingle Hall. We noticed a misty area down the right hand side of the photograph. This was not due to fogging of the film because on the negative it is confined to the area of the photograph, and does not extend beyond to the area around the sprocket holes.
The photograph on the right is another strange photograph taken as one of our group was walking down the stairs. There is a strange looking spirally thing arcing across the bottom right hand corner of the picture. We think that this is simply the camera strap hanging infront of the camera lens, reflecting back the flash. But my friend who took the photograph says he is certain that he always makes sure he is hold of the strap and it is away from the lens. Who knows.
Chingle Hall is certainly a very strange place. The building itself is over 600 years old and there has been a building on the site of one sort or another since Roman times. Most of the Chingle Hall ghosts seem to be based around events during the reformation, when the Catholics were being persecuted and executed. The building contains many hidden rooms and passages where the priests would hide away with their belongings from the soldiers; who apparently would lay seige to the house for days on end hoping to drive out the priest.
The Hall has certainly witnessed much violence, torture and killing. The place looks eerie, feels eerie and we certainly plan a return visit early next year.
