Bio of Dr. Dave Oester and Dr. Sharon Gill Oester

Dave and Sharon started International Ghost Hunters Society in 1996 to provide information to those interested in the paranormal. Dave designed and maintains their web site; Ghostweb.com averaging over 100,000 hits a month. Dave and Sharon are the coauthors of 22 books. They authored the most comprehensive Home Study Courses on ghost hunting and paranormal investigations that is available. They have shipped their Home Study Courses all around the world. The International Ghost Hunters Society is the largest ghost research organization on the on the Internet with members in 90 countries. 

They were the first to hold ghost seminars and conferences starting back in 1997 when they held their first conference in Decatur, Illinois. They have held seminars and conferences in Virginia City, NV; San Antonio, TX; New Orleans, LA; Salem, MA; Skykomish, WA; Crooked River Ranch, OR, Gettysburg, PA, Reno, NV and Albuquerque, NM. They held their first Caribbean Seminar@Sea in February 2003 aboard MS Regal. They lecture at their conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Dave and Sharon are in their eighth year of traveling full time in their RV as they investigate America’s most haunted sites. They access the Internet via Satellite Internet modem. They travel through the small towns of America as they investigate some of the most haunted sites in America.

Dave and Sharon first appeared in a thirty-minute segment focusing on them that aired on ABC Nightline in November 1994. They have appeared on over two-dozen prime time television segments, on over 400 radio stations and in national and international newspapers and magazines. They do a monthly two-hour radio talk show with syndicated Jeff Rense on the first Friday of each Month. They have been doing radio shows with Jeff Rense for the past ten years.

Reverend Sharon graduated from the New York Institute of Photography. Reverend Sharon completed a two-year program with the University of Metaphysics resulting in a doctorate in Metaphysical Counseling. Her thesis was on Understanding Death and Grief and is the basis for the Part 2 of the Home Study Course. Her thesis helped people who have experienced the loss of a loved one, how to work through that grief and discover the inner strength that comes from surviving the loss of a loved one. Reverend Sharon was ordained metaphysical minister in 1997 through the International Metaphysical Ministry and can legally perform marriage ceremonies, baptisms, funerals and all other ministerial services.

Reverend Dave has been a professional photographer for over 40 years and has taught college classes on photography. DigitalFoto magazine has published a four-page article about Dave and Sharon’s contribution to digital photography in the field of paranormal research. Reverend Dave worked his way through college by doing specialized photography.

Reverend Dave was ordained in August of 1999 as a minister in the Universal Life Church. He holds two honorary degrees, a Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor in Philosophy in Religion earned through his church religious studies. As a Universal Life Church minister, Reverend Dave is a legally licensed minister who can perform marriage ceremonies, baptisms, funerals and all other ministerial services in all 50 States. He can also ordain new ministers into the Universal Life Church.

Reverend Dave focuses on the Gnostic Christian theology that revolves around the banned books of the Bible, which presents a different aspect of Christianity. Any religious books that taught anything different from the current teachings of the Fourth Century Church were banned from the Bible in AD 325.  Reverend Dave has an eclectic ministry directed toward teaching about the Afterlife and our existence beyond the grave. Reverend Dave goes by his Reverend title only when performing marriages, all other times as Dr. Dave when he teaches about theological issues regarding life after death. Dr. Dave is also a Reiki Master and has offered the Reiki Master course worldwide.

Reverend Dave encourages each person to seek their own spiritual pathway and to avoid the congregational rituals imposed upon man by man. Reverend Dave approaches ghost hunting from a spiritual dimension, while using scientific tools to validated the existence of ghosts. It is the study of ghosts that reflects the eternal nature of man.

For information about the legality of the Universal Life Church, read the United States District Court for Eastern District of California ruling at Universal Life Church and Religion. According to the Federal Judge, The Universal Life Church has the right to ordain ministers and to issue honorary Doctor of Divinities as stated by the United States District Court for Eastern District of California. It also stated that Universal Life Church ministers could legally perform marriage ceremonies.

In existence since 1959, the Universal Life is headquartered in Modesto, California, and has congregations around the world. The sun never sets on the Universal Life Church. ULC ministers come from all walks of life and spiritual traditions. Our common thread is our adherence to the universal doctrine of religious freedom: "Do only that which is right".

Every person has the natural right (and the responsibility) to peacefully determine what is right. We are advocates of religious freedom. The Universal Life Church wants you to pursue your spiritual beliefs without interference from any outside agency, including government, church authority, or narrow minded people who judge and condemn anyone outside their own religious beliefs. Dr. Dave and Dr. Sharon were married by a Universal Life Church minister.
